an update from Jason Cox
Here’s what I’ve been up to / thinking about lately:
- Enjoying the lovely spring weather. We’ve had a few hot days already, but mostly it’s quite pleasant. Not much rain – odd for this time of year in Georgia. I work outside most days.
- Wondering how to best fit in exercise. I’ve been doing some running a few times a week, but between work and kids its hard to squeeze it in. Still trying to take breaks from work to walk as well.
- Consistently falling behind on reading the weekly local newspaper I get. Oh well. The news feels a bit funny three weeks later, but I do read it eventually.
- Feeling frustrated by AI. I don’t enjoy using it in my work, and I have lots of concerns about the impact it will have on our society. See my thoughts on The Future of Everything is Lies, I Guess.
- Getting easily distracted. I was doing well for a while, but lately I’ve been unhappy with how often I check my email/messages throughout the day and how much time I spend reading random things online. I can feel my brain craving novelty, and I want it to calm down.
- Marvelling at the success of our home-grown veggies. The kale, red-leaf lettuce, and snap peas in our garden are doing surprisingly well (surprising because we haven’t had much gardening success in the past…). I’d like to work them into our meals more so they don’t go to waste.
